Squeamish about truth

It was a told-you-so moment Mike Hudema must relish.

Lobbying for better fuel efficiency as part of a San Francisco-based environmental group had fallen on the deaf ears of both government and big U.S. automakers. Later, Hudema says, some of those self-eviscerated manufacturers surrendered a belated admission.

"They said 'we didn't listen to you and if we had, we'd be in a much position today,' " Hudema, the Greenpeace oilsands warrior recalls on the same day one automaker recorded a $15.5-billion quarterly loss.

He's yet to hear anything remotely the same from the province or its corporate allies as his group marks the first anniversary of its oilsands campaign in Alberta.
