1. Oh, that's just hyperbole! There's really nothing to worry about.
Extinction is just a natural, cyclic process that has nothing to do with human activity.

3. you forgot . . . "AND the Fittest humans WILL survive whatever happens to global climate."
That's the one I have been hearing lately from relatively well educated people.

4. Good cartoon
It gets the point across. What I don't get with the climate warming deniers is this. If the scientists that support the idea of global warming are wrong and the world goes ahead with making changes supported by those that believe in global warming we will create a less polluted world. So what are we out? Money, of course, yes we end up with a cleaner world but it does cost a bunch of money and maybe a few industries like 'big oil' aren't quite as big and powerful anymore. If the scientists that support the idea of global warming are correct and we follow the deniers wishes that we do nothing. What are we out? Well really we are out nothing because we could very well be dead. Gee, if I am going to decide on the side of caution wouldn't it make a hell of a lot more sense to go ahead and spend the money?

7. That's what I don't get either.
It seems to me that most deniers are extremely short-sighted. They are only worried about right now. They don't want anything to be asked of them NOW, to help make things better for those who will come later - and I've seen this attitude even from people who have children. Of course, they also don't seem to think any of these bad consequences are going to come into play during their lifetimes, which is also short-sighted and ignorant.

It's enough to make me :banghead:

13. Most denialists
Don't think along those terms. They simply parrot what the big pollution lobbyists tell them to say.

8. I've also found that a lot of deniers also don't want anyone telling them what to do.
As well as not wanting their money "wasted" to err on the side of caution.

9. “… So what are we out? Money, of course …”
“We” (collectively) might not even be out that (in the long run.) After all, ignoring the whole matter of climate change for a moment. Fossil fuels won’t last forever. The longer we wait, the more expensive they will become (simple market economics.) We’ve got to make the transition.

However, looking at humanity as individuals for a moment, there are a great number of individuals and companies which will be economically disadvantaged by an abandonment of the status quo.

Sure, everyone thinks of the oil companies, but what about the guy who’s never known a job outside of the coal mine? He’s going to have a tough time when you tell him, “We’re closing down all the mines.”

In 1981, a transformer fire in the http://www.nytimes.com/1981/08/11/nyregion/fate-of-binghamton-s-sealed-tower-still-uncertain.html">State Office Building in Binghamton NY spread PCB’s throughout the building, and vented them to the outside. Hugh Carey—the Governor—dismissed the threat, saying that he would go into any part of the building and http://books.google.com/books?id=AuYCAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA22&lpg=PA22&dq=hugh+carey+pcb+binghamton&source=bl&ots=-QRDOLxvnL&sig=5BbwqrPzE105ZX4zAbPnyFeIKM0&hl=en&ei=p_QjS7vkI4nKlAeP2In0CQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CAgQ6AEwAA#v=onepage">swallow a glass of PCB’s.
