As part of its continued involvement in providing solar solutions to affordable housing communities across the Bay Area, Real Goods Solar will be taking part in a ribbon cutting ceremony with Sunwheel Energy Partners and Solar Richmond to celebrate the recent completion of a 417 kW solar electric system at Richmond Village.

The ceremony is to take place on Thursday, March 4, 2010, 11a.m. at 700 South 26th Street, Richmond, CA 94804. The ribbon cutting ceremony will mark the commissioning of the solar photovoltaic systems installed at Richmond Village and celebrate bringing solar power, green jobs, and financial relief to residents and owners.

The celebration marks the culmination of Real Goods Solar’s participation in the design and installation of 790 kW DC of solar electricity across four separate affordable housing communities in the Bay Area: three in San Francisco and one in Richmond, CA.

The PV systems were financed through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), enabling these properties to use solar-generated power without the upfront capital costs or operational expenses. Through the San Francisco City Build and Solar Richmond workforce training programs, dozens of previously unemployed residents received on-the-job training and experience in green economy jobs, bringing pride and numerous other benefits to their communities.

1. Real Goods . . .
. . . has an extensive online catalog. Their retail store is a fascinating place to visit if you're ever on the 101 north of San Rafael.
