N.J. withdraws from lawsuit to have utilities cut greenhouse gases emitted by power plants
New Jersey has withdrawn from a lawsuit brought by several states that sought to have five electric utilities cut the greenhouse gases emitted by their power plants in 20 states.

State Attorney General Paula Dow notified the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday that New Jersey "will no longer be a party" to the case, though the decision was not publicly disclosed. The Associated Press obtained a copy of Dow's March 11 letter to William K. Suter, clerk of the Supreme Court, which was signed by Deputy Attorney General Lisa J. Morelli.

Paul Loriquet, a spokesman for Dow, told the AP today that the "lawsuit that was originally filed in 2004 has been effectively mooted by the 2007 Supreme Court decision declaring that the regulation of greenhouse emissions is a federal issue."

In an e-mail, he added that, "Considering the Supreme Court's ruling and the Obama Administration's subsequent position that the EPA must determine an appropriate plan of action, it does not make sense to incur further taxpayer expense on an unnecessary lawsuit."

New Jersey's decision to withdraw was sharply criticized by U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who has been involved in global warming issues.

Paula T. Dow (born 1955) is the 58th and current Attorney General of New Jersey , appointed by incoming Governor Chris Christie . ...

Gee, I'm surprised that the good and intelligent elected officials of The Garden State would want to pull out of a clean air lawsuit. :sarcasm:

Way far north in NY state. Not even close to NJ.

New Jersey has the Watchung Mountains, Kittatinny Mountains, Ramapo Mountains and a bit of the Appalachians

However the repuke Christie might qualify as a minor mountain too. A mountain of crap.

6. I'm sorry but I don't understand the context
I avoid reading anything from Bachman, Beck, Limbaugh, etc. in order to preserve my few remaining brain cells.

Did she say something about the Adirondacks being in NJ?

7. She was in Manchester, NH, yesterday campaigning (apparently) to be elected President...
...of the United States. She spoke of "how proud she was
to be in the state where 'The Shot heard Round the World'
was fired". (That's a paraphrase, but it's pretty close.)

Unfortunately, as many folks know, "The Shot Heard 'Round
the World" was fired in Lexington, MASSACHUSETTS, about
40 miles south of where she was speaking in Manchester, NH.
But hey, all of us New England states look alike to her and
how could anything good have come from Taxachusetts? Ain't
that where her opponent Mitt Romney lately hails from?

So in the spirit of Republicans not knowing shit from
Shinola about anything, I was moving the Adirondacks
from northeast New York State down into the Poconos.
(Wait! Aren't they in Pennsylvania? Hasn't New Jersey
*GOT* any damned mountains to call their own???)

8. Ah, I see. Thanks.
Bachman is really pitiful. She makes Pailn sound like a PhD and that's saying something.

2. I guess Christie wants to bring back that nickname we use to call New Jersey ages ago...
"The Armpit of America"

As someone who has lived in a state that neighbors NJ, I can honestly say that governors prior to Christie have worked hard to get rid of that nickname (even the republican ones). They have worked hard enough to actually bring pride to the produce grown in the state. Guess Christie wants to bring that old title back.
