Japan energy crisis may force Sony to halt work
Sony Corporation is contemplating temporarily shutting down its Japan premises and is considering changing its staff's working hours, to comply with energy-saving targets set by the Japanese government following the tsunami last month.

Sony spokesman George Boyd told the BBC that a shut down for two weeks during summer would "alleviate the electricity consumption".

The earthquake and ensuing tsunami in early March this year damaged many of Japan's nuclear and thermal power stations, and the country has been suffering power cuts ever since.

Toyota motors has already suspended work at most plants in Japan, whilst Nissan and Honda have had to slow production.
