Japanese International Airport Radiation Information
http://www.narita-airport.jp/en/

So interesting to see how they are handling this. A beautiful sentiment from the airport management.

---

We pray for the repose of the souls of those who were killed in the enormous earthquake that occurred on March 11 and offer our heartfelt condolences to the individuals and their families who suffered loss, damage or injury.

Immediately after the earthquake, Narita Airport set straight to work on recovery and resumption of operations and all facilities, including runways, terminals and fuel, are operating normally.

By using every possible means to move relief supplies and transport victims in the stricken area, we will work towards an early recovery in those areas and by linking Japan and the world, underpin the nation's economy.

(Atmosphere)
A radiation monitoring device has been installed within the airport premises at Narita International Airport. Independently sampled radiation readings will be provided twice a day, at approximately 10:00 and 19:00.

3. I think we can have confidence what little we are hearing
is under reported.

I'm not sure there is much we can do. Filter water. Avoid dairy. Wash leafy greens...

I'll do it, but I'm doubtful about how much it will help in the scheme of things.

4. Look at the difference France issues warnings in San Francisco milk is fine

However, the French said we received 8x the dose on the West Coast ... why the difference

The NGO is advising pregnant women and infants against "risky behaviour," such as consuming fresh milk or vegetables with large leaves.

CRIIRAD notes that the amount of iodine-131 capable of delivering a dose of 10 mSv varies greatly depending on the age of consumers. Children up to two years old are the most vulnerable and ingestion of 50 becquerel (Bq) is enough to deliver to the body a dose of 10 mSv, according to the institute.

If the foods (leafy vegetables, milk etc.) contain between one and 10 Bq per kg or more, it is possible that the reference level of 10 mSv may be exceeded within two to three weeks, the institute added.

Radioactive iodine-131 values measured by the French Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) in recent days show the following, varying levels of contamination: 0,08 Bq/kg in salad, spinach and leeks in Aix-en-Provence, 0,17 Bq per litre in milk in Lourdes and 2,1 Bq per litre in goats milk in Clansayes.

----

If more fires are reported or if the operators are forced to release more steam in order to prevent hydrogen explosions, new massive waste releases will occur, the institute warned.

5. Yes, I read European news and Japanese alerts and listen to Arnie Gunderson
and make my own extrapolations from there. I don't really even pay attention to the lack of US coverage, except for the negative information of how many radiation detectors are now off line. That raises my eyebrows.

6. This is an NGO
and not the French government.

It's like asking why Greenpeace says one thing and the NRC another...
