The ads, which will run in the lawmakers’ home districts, say the members are protecting “corporate polluters” and stopping the EPA from being able to regulate harmful air pollutants. The bill to block EPA climate rules passed the House earlier this month, but it was rejected by the Senate when it was offered as an amendment to small-business legislation.
The ads target House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.), who authored the legislation to prevent the EPA from regulating greenhouse gas emissions, as well as Reps. Dean Heller (R-Nev.), who is running for Senate, Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.) and Jason Altmire (D-Pa.).

“It is beyond reprehensible that Chairman Upton is leading an all-out attack on the EPA’s vital clean air safeguards and that lawmakers like Reps. Altmire, Heller and Rehberg are more than willing to follow his lead,” LCV President Gene Karpinski said in a statement.
