One killed in clash at planned India nuclear plant site (BBC)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-13124773

One person has died after police in western India clashed with locals protesting against the planned construction of a nuclear power plant.

Police said they were forced to open fire after protesters attacked a police station close to the proposed site in Jaitapur, in the state of Maharashtra.

Construction of the $10bn (£6bn) plant - expected to be the biggest in the world - is due to begin this year.

The proposal has sparked massive protests across the country.

3. It'll be a long time before they can raise their ugly asses again for sure
I thought we were rid of them after TMI and Chernobyl and for a couple decades we were but when the realization of Global Warming came to the forefront they seemed to see a chance to resurrect their heads again and man o man have they.

Have you noticed the ones who advocate for more nuclear energy have quieted down somewhat, (not just talking about DU here either) but overall. The few who are still advocating for more are the loud ones who for the most part talk/type before they think so their logic is totally impossible to follow. I laugh but a nervous laugh because I know that one of these babies can have a serious accident real quick like and be totally our of hand just right now like, as we're witnessing now happening in Japan. I think its stupid to have ever given any serious thought to using such potentially dangerous rube goldberg type apparatuses to begin with. They were foisted on us before they had the wrinkles all ironed out and once they got started building them they quit ironing out wrinkles because they realized that hey we're Nuking 'm now so why rock the boat. So they didn't do anything on trying to make it a more full proof operation and it appears they just quite worrying about the waste totally. What they were going to do with it. What I don't get is who is going to have to ultimately clean up all these places, you can bet the ones who are making money off them now won't be it, it'll be left for those who were duped into letting them build them to begin with. (Sigh) We all have to pay because a few can be duped so easy and thats not just meant for nuclear power either. Every where we turn its just another scam, someone wanting our money, our possessions.

4. So stupid to even think aout nuke power, that part of India is arid and sunny.
The middle of India could be the mother load of solar power.

5. They're upset about the government taking the land
either way, they would take the land. Whether it's nuclear or solar doesn't matter. they both need land.
