Bill McKibben - "There Is An Unbroken Bipartisan Consensus Of Accomplishing Nothing"
EDIT

"There is an unbroken, bipartisan record of accomplishing nothing," he said. "That came to a grotesque head a couple of weeks ago when the House of Representatives voted 248-174 to deny the fact that global warming is occurring."

The key to the fight against global warming is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, he said. The fossil fuel industry has too much money and political power and to take it on people must fight the Chamber, which McKibben says is the industry's biggest supporter.

McKibben's website has launched a campaign to get businesses across the country to declare the Chamber of Commerce does not speak for them, he said.

"There is no guarantee anything will work, and if I was a betting person I would bet we will lose because we have so far," he said. "But that is a bet you are not allowed to make because the worst thing that has ever happened is happening."

1. That's because our "elected" representatives must answer to their real bosses
...who certainly aren't us.

And they are in thrall to the delusion they live on some other planet, and are immune to the inexorable consequences of their actions.

They are -- reps and owners alike -- psychotic, in other words. And in a healthy society, none of them would be anywhere near the levers of power.

But... that's in a healthy society.
