4. I don't know that it's necessarily Blair
the hand is holding a note that says "G8" - it may just be the idea of "Uncle Sam" squashing any positive attempts to affect change by the G8 in general.

2. Rather sad that this is the way they see us
I always try to make a difference whenever traveling abround to cut down the steriotype... It is a shame that the freeps who havn't ever had a passport are the generally accepted steriotype.

3. The trouble is
the US IS overweight when it comes to consuming resources and such - as a group.

We are not all that clueless about evolution and such - but the vast majority of Americans seems rather oblivious about consumption habits. And having the gov't be clueless about global warming and Kyoto doesn't help.

At any rate - sad is right.

5. Hell, we are just plain overweight.
Our obesity numbers are much higher than most of the rest of the world -- people who visit the US are often surprised to see so many overweight people. What's particularly disturbing is how many fat kids there are. Kids are now getting type 2 diabetes.

6. there is that
I saw an article recently about kids in Japan becoming increasingly overweight also - so it does seem to be a growing phenomenon. Part of the lifestyle.
