Ohio EPA clears way for biofuels project

The Ohio EPA has issued final permits for a $40 million biofuels project involving Acrion Technologies of Cleveland at the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio's Franklin County landfill.

Using Acrion's carbon dioxide wash process, FirmGreen Fuels LLC of Newport Beach, Calif., will purify landfill gas that now must be burned off in huge flares. The purified methane gas will power the landfill's 18-wheeler trucks, supply a gas turbine electrical generator and eventually be converted to methanol, which is a feedstock in the production of biodiesel.

Construction is scheduled to begin in July and operations in the first quarter of 2007.

Now that's what I like, turning waste material into useable energy. One more way to give less money to country's that support terrorists. That's kind of a neat idea.
