Two proposed Hawke's Bay wind farms will be too close to each other, the Environment Court has been told.
Three independent commissioners have begun hearing evidence in Hastings over appeals lodged against Hastings District Council's resource consent approval for two proposed wind farms.
The future of the $350 million, 75-turbine Hawke's Bay Wind Farm at Maungaharuru Range and electricity lines company Unison's $90 million 15-turbine project at Titiokura Summit will be decided by the court.
Both projects remain in limbo pending the court's finding.
Hawke's Bay Wind Farm spokesman Alistair Wilson said yesterday that the two wind farms were effectively competitors of wind resources. He would not say if the projects were economically competitive.
