Firefly batteries
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 01:19 AM by greenparty
They didnt re-invent the wheel just improved it.Been trying to find these for awhile as i wanted utilize them in a project im thinking about.(Not available as i found) but they are lead acid batteries that last about 5 times longer than normal. The inside plates are coated to reduce sulphation which any R.Energy user will tell you is the bane of all battery banks. Will hit the commercial streets in 2007.
Was mainly of interest to me since because the history is compelling.Caterpillar was tired of their heavy machinery operational limits due to battery capacity so they sunk a bit of money into r&d and a short time later....boom. a lighter, more powerful and long lasting lead acid battery is born.
Just think with a little $ what would happen with H2 generator technology......

1. Sorry, but there's no "there," there. If they want people to buy their batteries,
maybe they should design a website that Mac users can see.

3. Nonflash link and thanks.

This link might help skip the flash intro. (Those folks really need to change their icon from the mambo default, BTW, dead giveaway. :-)

Thanks for posting this. While the new Li batteries promise to make batteries viable in more and more products, lead acid is still the "dollumetric energy density" king, and if they can get the round-trip efficiency up above 90 these will be great for home systems and UPS power.
