A message from Ms Boxer:
Dear zzzzzzzz,

Your support made a major difference!

With today's concessions from Conrad Burns (R-MT) and George Allen (R-VA), it's now official: Democrats won back control of both the House and Senate!

What an amazing result. Only a few months ago, taking back the House looked possible but still tough, and winning the Senate looked like a long-shot. But now, as a direct result of your hard work, we did it. And if you're wondering about what kind of changes that decisive victory will bring, look no further than these examples:

1. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld resigned

2. Nancy Pelosi will become the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House of Representatives

3. With the new Senate majority, I will become chair of the Environment and Public Works Committee. And on my agenda? Finally we will hold hearings on global warming and the impact of toxics on the health of our families.

These are huge changes -- but they're just the beginning. And this kind of sweeping change would not have been possible without you.

Our PAC for a Change community raised $1.2 million for 61 candidates this cycle, as well as a number of state parties and other organizations -- 37 of those 61 candidates won their campaigns, and 4 others are still awaiting results in races that are still too close to call. Take a look:

---

I'm thrilled by everything that we did to help our Democratic candidates this year -- and I'm even more thrilled by what a new Democratic Congress will be able to do for the American people.

Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, for everything that you've done. Take some time to enjoy this tremendous victory -- and then let's prepare for the work that lies ahead. Now is the time for Democrats to lead, and I know we will.

In Friendship,

Barbara Boxer
