If only we lived in a world where people were nice to each other...
Sure, carbon trading is not perfect. Neither is any form of government, or mechanism for voting.
It is, however, the best solution to date--by far. Ignoring market forces is naive and stalls putting any solution into practice. We can live with the obscenity, or die pure. I'll choose living.

Governments around the world should assess a tax based on the external cost of energy plus an administrative fee.
This would eliminate fossil fuels faster than any other initiative. It has less opportunity for evasion.
