Wind turbine availability not keeping up with demand

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Electricity harnessed from wind is one alternative energy source cooperatives are researching.

"The availability of wind turbines is not meeting the demands," said Ron Schwartau, director of the Minnesota Rural Electric Association during the recent Farmers Cooperative Conference.

Schwartau said the soonest a wind turbine will be delivered if ordered today is more than two years from now, making it difficult to meet the goal of generating 20 percent of electricity established by President George Bush in his las State of Union Address.

"A wind turbine is built every four hours, and to get to 20 percent, we need one every 15 minutes," Schwartau said, quoting Vic Abate, vice president of renewable energy at General Electric.

1. I live in a place National Geographic called the most remote in lower 48
and I see LOTS of big parts for wind machines go by. It gives me hope for the future, so long as we keep the pressure on the government to force corporations to change their practices.

It's a start. Just hoping the start isn't already too late.

3. You're in Nevada's Snake Valley??
Definitely remote. It's where my dad's family is from.

2. I am currently recruiting for Project Managers
I am currently recruiting for Senior Project Managers with wind energy experience, responsible for all aspects of project delivery for multiple projects in the United States, ensuring that their projects are completed on time and on budget. The Project Developer’s initial charter will be to focus on managing existing projects. As the U.S. business grows, he/she will be responsible for identifying and securing new development sites, evaluating project acquisition and investment opportunities and mentoring junior staff members.

Also working on a few positions for engineers. Anyone out there?

This is a new direction for my recruiting biz, and I'm feeling pretty good about it!

5. Might put some feelers out in MT too. The Gov is a big proponent
and they might know some engineers... ;)
