The two-week Climate Change conference ends Friday but on a rather sour note with a stalemate over funds for Clean Development Mechanism for projects to mitigate effects of global warming.
African delegates at the conference are accusing their counterparts from Europe of allocating the bulk of the funds to undeserving developed nations yet Africa was the most vulnerable and hard hit by effects of unchecked greenhouse emissions, largely from developed nations.
Delegates from Africa and other developing nations are crying foul that their counterparts from developed nations have ignored their plight and muzzled their attempts to push for equitable distribution of funds for mitigating effects of climate change.
EDIT
For Africa and developing nations, little benefit seems to have come out of the conference, but the conference's secretary Yvo de Boer disagrees. Top negotiators are currently locked up in a marathon meeting in an attempt to thrash out the contentious issues to achieve a conclusive statement that will be issued later this evening.
