http://www.dailylocal.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=17489196&BRD=1671&PAG=461&dept_id=17782&rfi=6MALVERN -- The Great Valley School District is doing its part to improve air quality for children riding its buses by burning a much cleaner fuel -- B20 biodiesel -- in its fleet of 70 school buses, and is the first school district in the state to do this.
It is also reducing reliance on foreign oil and reducing greenhouse gases by making the switch to the alternative fuel which is a 20 percent blend of soybean oil and diesel.
"You are a shining example for school districts all over the state," said Susan Summers, the alternative-fuels manager for the state Department of Environmental Protection at a press conference Wednesday at General Wayne Elementary.
"The breathing of exhaust from school buses is a concern of all parents. Maybe this action will champion more districts to follow your example," Summers said to the assembled school district and Krapf Bus Company officials.
