5. A big obvious question |
|
I asked when I saw an outdoor solar light for sale at my local pharmacy retailer. WHY are there not individual units of many sorts available for various small electric needs when the main option available is only a big house panel model for the whole enchilada? Is it really more expensive, less life or otherwise lesser than the grid dependent appliances we now have? That would seem to have to be the case not to have at the very least the option of having independent solar lights or devices. The other reason of course is the curious murk of the tech monopolies and copyrights who dole out the future solely to maintain the past.

And also solar availability. You can't install them where they can't "see" the sun.

10. Yes, maybe one of the paths to changing people's behavior about energy |

is through small temporary changes like Xmas lights - if those work for them, then maybe they'll see the bigger picture

6. My city recently made an intersection a 4 way stop that had been an arterial. |
|
At first, stop signs were placed in the center of the street that was a through street. Now they put up the stop signs in the normal places, but around the edge are flashing red lights which are powered by a solar panel. The emergency sirens throughout town are also solar powered. Solar power can and should be used and is only limited by our imagination. It is free for the taking and does not involve converting food crops using processing plants and oil into fuel. Solar power does not deplete our soil and suck up our water resources. It is a simple process and right now I am using a solar oven to cook my dinner.

9. I'm probably just being a grumpy old fart... |
|
...but am I the only person who thinks that pissing away energy and hydrocarbons for something as trivial as a flashing plastic door wreath might not be the most environmental option?
(and no, Jpak, it's not because they're solar-powered :))
