Edmunds Lists Most Efficient Cars - Out of 15, Exactly Two Are American
SANTA MONICA, Calif., May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Edmunds.com
(http://www.edmunds.com), the Internet's premier resource for automotive information, today announced the most fuel-efficient cars for the 2004 model year(1).

Pontiac Vibe
Toyota Celica GT*
Toyota Matrix

"It is impressive that the most fuel-efficient vehicles enjoy nearly double the per-gallon mileage of the vehicles lower on the list," remarks Karl Brauer, Editor In Chief of Edmunds.com. "During city driving the Insight and Prius are rated at 60 miles to the gallon, while the vehicles tied for 10th place get 29."

Especially the Xa and Xb. They have great mileage, more room inside that you would imagine, seats that are easy to get in and out of because of the height of the doors, and great stereos, for around 15K.

They are Toyotas. Nice cars. I looked at one before I bought a Prius.

Pontiac Vibe = Toyota Matrix re-branded.

Am I the only person who thinks we would have been started on energy independence with a Democrat in the white house on 9/11 (assuming it still happened, of course)? Good thing we have those tax breaks on those SUVs over 6000 pounds (not).

Strange that I had to buy a foreign car to run domestic fuel (biodiesel) in it...

8. are the tdis still banned for sale in california?
two or three years ago they were just over the limit for nox emissions, and come to think of it i haven't seen many around. back then people were having relatives in nevada buy them to "gift" them over to people here in california.
