Gore's statement of "reading a science fiction novel" as a legit resource |
|
on global warming made me think ...
The Republicans are to global warming what Tom Cruise is to the mental health profession ... Cruise believes in what L. Ron Hubbard has to say about science ...

1. I wish he would have said, "Fictional science book" instead of "Science Fiction novel" |
|
Two different animals IMO. Just take Arthur C. Clarke for instance, some of his Sci-Fi novels have become science fact decades later.
It's a small nitpick I know, but it did bother me a bit.

2. I remember the fact that someone asked Arthur C. Clarke why |
|
he didn't sue the guy who came up with "satellites" in geo-synch orbit, since he was the one who suggested it ...
But I wonder why nobody will take up that argument that Gore essentially called Republicans Tom Cruise ...

3. I believe it was an offhanded remark referring to Michael Crichton's "State of Fear" |

Having read Andromeda Strain, Sphere and Jurassic Park I always felt Crichton identified more with the outcasts or skeptics in any given novel.
Are we to believe that Crichton was secretly empathizing with Hammond over Dr. Grant or Ian Malcolm?
I guess he got mugged or something but I don't see how that turns one into an environment hating sellout.
