CCD (bees) beekeeper survey |
|
Just got a call from my county agriculture department. I called them recently to learn what they were looking at in terms of CCD, and today's response was no more informative than the last. They are relying upon the State of CA Ag Dept. State Ag had just reported to them that the problem is limited to the US (she had no idea there are CCD problems in Canada, England and continental Europe as well, so I'm worried about how thorough these mutts are researching the issue.
Anyhow, the one bit of information I did get from the phone call is that a survey of beekeepers is being taken at www.beesurvey.com. Anyone tracking this issue may want to make a note of that site. It seems to be a commercial site, and I don't know more about it than what I posted here.

1. I've got a big rhododendron next to my deck |
|
It's about 8 feet in diameter and it's covered with huge, white flower trusses. Every truss has had a bee in it pretty much all day yesterday and today. I guess the bees are not quite terminal yet.

3. I hear genetically engineered crops and pesticides are the main culprits. Is that accurate? |
