Bolivia, Chile to talk about Bolivian access to sea

LIMA, Aug. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Bolivian Foreign Minister Armando Loaiza said Wednesday Chile has accepted discussing the issue of the "maritime reintegration" of Bolivia.

Access to the sea is a special issue of the Action Plan signed by Bolivia and Chile, said Loaiza, according to dispatches from LaPaz, the administrative capital of Bolivia.

Bolivia and Chile have not had formal diplomatic relations since 1978, due to Bolivia's claim on the coastal territory it lost to Chile during the 1879-1883 War of the Pacific.

The Action Plan contains issues relating to both countries, such as border issues and economic and commercial cooperation, and will be evaluated at a meeting of the two countries' foreign ministers in October, within the framework of a political consultation mechanism.
