Does anybody else here see the stupidity in consolidating |
|
the military functions into fewer and fewer units?
I'm a computer person, and I wonder how many companies have survived this long without making - say - a BACKUP of their computers?
For decades (centuries?), the Repukes have been saying that the Dems want to eliminate the military. Not true. But there is a bunch of spending that is NOT going into the grunts' pockets. There's a reason why few people (during peacetime) decided that they could make more money in the private sector than "being patriotic" and enlisting in the armed services.
Back to the "backup" idea.
So, consolidating our military into just a few bases. Does that seem very bright to you? Less targets for the opposition. (This kinda goes in the face of why people flee the cities - you spread out more, the less likely you are to be hit).
Somehow, I don't see it as such a great idea to put all our eggs into one basket, so to speak. Imagine, fewer places to hit with a "dirty bomb" to do maximum damage . . .

Well, if the neo-cons get their way the closed bases will be replaced by bases in Iraq. It makes no sense to close the ones here at home unless they have another stupid plan. I thought homeland security was important, I guess not. Rumsfield is some kind of idiot and a lousy Sec of Defense. He lives in a dream world like his buddy GW.

I think the whole scheme is for political retribution at the expense of our national defense.
It seems like we're gonna spend 500 billion to save 10 billion over 20 years..downright stupid on the face.
