...The Bush administration proposes to trim the budget of the Justice Assistance Grant program from $660 million to $60 million. Police use that money for drug task forces, domestic violence shelters, school resource officers and more.

The funding, part of the Justice Department's allocation, is pending in the U.S. Senate after passing the House. The House approved $370 million for the JAG program, about six times what the president sought. But even that amount represents almost a 50 percent cut from this year, law enforcement notes...

1. No pretty sure the best way to spend this money is on more adminstrators
We can always use more people who can't make decisions. Why bother with the guys on the front lines.

2. Wow, bush proposes to trim the Justice Assistance Grant....
by 600 million so we can have less police officers, domestic violence shelters, etc. A bush spokesman says JAG money does not lower crime and the money is better spent with Homeland Security. What a crock of bull. What has Homeland Security done but give us a bunch of color coded alerts no one understands or pays attention to. Tell this to the people who live in drug ridden, violent areas. The bush administration is filled with a bunch of brain addled asswipes.
