Does this make me a terrorist? My two "activist" actions
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 06:26 PM by zbdent
1. Saw the new Hillary Clinton smear book in Target. Only copy visible, not even in the right section of the books (well, it's not really a NY non-fiction best seller, right? For non-fiction, there actually has to be some facts in it right?). Took out a nice little 2 by 4 inch piece of paper I had printed up. With the addresses and phone numbers of local armed forces recruitment offices. Stuck in in the pages of the book (for the unsuspecting "buyer" - not likely to happen; don't they buy books like this in bulk to drive up the NY Times best-seller lists?)

2. Using an identically printed piece of paper, I stuck a copy into the side-view mirror of an SUV with a stupid "W04" sticker on the rear window.

So, given the fact that Target and some parking lots are likely to have security cameras (not there for consumer safety, there for corporate safety), am I likely to be visited by the authorities for "intellectual terrorism"?

6. Hmm. Vandalism?
It's an ism of some kind. Maybe terrorism. Lately, terrorism has come to be broadly defined. To me, terrorism is violence against innocents aimed to cause fear and damage, and make it 'not worth it' to do what the terrorists are against, such as a military occupation. Targeting the occupying military personnel is not terrorism to me. The bombings in London: terrorism. Assaults on U.S. bases in Iraq: no. But some would say the Iraq insurgents are terrorists, along with all Palestinians who take arms against Israel. (So if you don't have a helicopter gun ship, your fight is illegitimate? Then the Powers That Be will almost always be 'right.') If you spike a tree, are you a terrorist? What if you stage a sit-in in a segregated diner? Organize a boycott? Pour tea in a harbor? Try tp balance out a book full of slanderous lies with one slip of paper? Try to shake somebody out of their dimwitted admiration of a jingoistic, self-righteous, hypocritical, smug imbecile usurper with a little card on their gas guzzler?

So what does this card say?
