Rice Lying in January 2003
Edited on Sun Jul-13-03 02:15 AM by VaLabor
"And instead of full cooperation and transparency, Iraq has filed a false declaration to the United Nations that amounts to a 12,200-page lie.

"For example, the declaration fails to account for or explain Iraq's efforts to get uranium from abroad, its manufacture of specific fuel for ballistic missiles it claims not to have, and the gaps previously identified by the United Nations in Iraq's accounting for more than two tons of the raw materials needed to produce thousands of gallons of anthrax and other biological weapons.

"Iraq's declaration even resorted to unabashed plagiarism, with lengthy passages of United Nations reports copied word-for-word (or edited to remove any criticism of Iraq) and presented as original text."

Hilarious. That last line is pretty funny, given what we know now about the dodgy dossier from Blair's office and held up by Colin Powell at the UN as reason to go to war.

1. You are right, accusing Iraq of plagiarism
is so ironic in view of Blair's own troubles.

I'll say that Bush and Blair are in a bloody mess of their own making!

2. Nice catch

(Don't forget that 12,200-page Iraqi report was first purloined by the US from the UN and released by ShrubCo in a much-abridged edition, though the UN did manage to get its hands on the full document, IIRC.)

4. So, they failed to account for the false accusations?
I guess that's reason to condemn them. Maybe they never got a copy of the forged Nigerian uranium letter.
