Gang members attacked police stations with machine guns, dynamite and a firebomb Thursday in a fourth night of attacks that a security official called "an extraordinary but desperate challenge" by the criminals.
Police were probing six new attacks, most occurring early Thursday morning in Sao Paulo and Sao Paulo state, the country's most populous, said police spokeswoman Caroline Souza.
The wave of attacks, totaling 26 since Sunday night, have killed two officers and wounded 12 more.
In one attack, four men in a stolen car sprayed machine-gun fire at the Sao Paulo home of police officer Flavia Nunes, who was at home with her 1-year-old daughter. Police said Nunes was wounded slightly by one of 20 bullets that slammed into her home. She was treated at a hospital and released, police said.
