1. Egypt is a great US ally in the war on terror, and is happy to interrogate

suspects that the US prefers receive more intensive questioning than the regime likes to do on US soil!

Hosni Mubarak receives more US aid than any other country but Israel, and he is democratically elected by 100% of the Egyptian people!

Probably the thing the people love most about Hosni is the stern crackdown he maintains on anti-American sentiment.

Egypt is a model of what a pro-Western Democratic Middle Eastern Country should be!

2. And yet the U.S. gov't gives Egypt 3 billion in aid a year!
"The (Egyptian)government intensified its crackdown on suspected political opponents, tightened its control over civil society institutions, and clamped down on freedom of speech and expression"

3. You Say That As Though It Were A Bad Thing, Sir
This is precisely what that money is intended to buy, and does buy. Mr. Mubarak is, at least, an honest rogue, who when bought stays bought, and keeps up his end of the bargain....

4. If Britain would have done foreign policy the American way
I imagine we'd still be a British colony. We are doing a great disservice to the Arab people by proping up these corrupt regimes with taxpayer dollars. Now its too late to right the wrong because hatred for America is entrenched and they hate us to the core.
