"My Cambodian Moment" Sen. Fritz Hollings (D-SC)
"My Cambodian Moment"
Sen. Fritz Hollings (D-SC), November 7, 2003

Senate Floor Remarks November 3, 2003

Mr. President, I come to acknowledge my "Cambodian moment" in the Iraq war. I refer to the Cambodian moment that Senator Mansfield experienced after years and years of opposing the war in Vietnam. He had a practice of taking written memoranda time and again to both Presidents Johnson and Nixon, supporting the President openly on the floor of the Senate, but finally at the time Cambodia was invaded under President Nixon, he could not take it any longer and spoke out.

He went on national TV and said: This war was a mistake from the get go. The next day, he got a letter from an admirer who had just lost her son. She said: I just buried my son and came home and watched you on this program. You said it was a mistake from the get go. Why didn't you speak out sooner?

She said: My regret is that you did not speak out sooner or loudly enough for me to hear.

It is time we speak out, because unless we put in 100,000 or 150,000 more United States troops and get law and order in Iraq, in Baghdad, we are going to have operation meat grinder continue, and it is our meat.

4. In defense of EdZontar...
..the person he accused of spamming the board was eventually tombstoned. Maybe there was some validity to his claim.

5. Spamming the board
Is not a tombstone offense.

EdZontar hardly needs your defense. My guess would be that Ed would probably have a big laugh over my remark. Do a search for yourself concerning our little repartee about this.

9. in alt.politics.democrats.d posting liberal messages is not
considered spam. That is the purpose of the group. Posting conservative messages is, and to some crossposting to conservative newsgroups is considered spam. Posting liberal articles is the purpose of this messageboard. How is it spam?

12. Actually my point
Edited on Wed Nov-12-03 06:55 AM by bluesoul
is that just because some bother to post more articles it doesn't mean they're spamming, if they are, then Poppy has double standards since the same could be said for Herschel and you shouldn't have been singled out. As for some people posting mostly from conservative sources, I will let others make up their minds about it. I have my opinion about that but I'll leave it at it...

14. Had some of you taken the time to do a search
You would appreciate the irony of my discussion with EdZontar and the ensuing remarks.

It's a wonderful feature, try it sometime.

Personnaly I don't really care how often CL wants to post his stuff.

15. Getting back to the topic of the thread...

Did you even bother reading the article? Links are a wonderful feature, try them sometime :) See, you don't care to comment on the article posted, and to be honest I don't care to go searching for some posts from you that seem to interest you way more than they do anyone else posting in this thread...

I'd love to appreciate some more irony, but one dose per thread is my limit, and you've already provided it for within this thread. Me and my late-night cup of coffee and a smoke thank you for sending me to bed with a smile...

Violet...

oopsy edit to fix up some crappy grammar...
