Israelis to teach first aid in India
The Israeli Medical Cadets (Pirhei Refuah) program is to send 14 volunteers to India this month, to teach emergency medical care to villages in need. The 10-day program is the third of its kind.

The group, program director Kobi Monovich, and the program's 34 alumni met at the Foreign Ministry Monday with Deputy Director-General Gideon Meir and Indian Ambassador to Israel Raminder Singh Jassal.

The program, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport, the Ministry of Health, and the Foreign Ministry, selects its ambassadors from a pool of over 2,000 students who each participate in the cadets' hospital enrichment program, wherein students are placed at various hospital and ambulance facilities throughout the country.

"By sending us to India you are helping to create more tolerant, aware, and sensitive youth," said participant Ella Hazanu. "Through this experience both Indian and Israeli youth learn to overlook their cultural differences and understand that human beings are the same everywhere."
