Gunfire echoes across Kinshasa - Democratic Republic of Congo
Kinshasa - Attacks by gunmen on four military bases and a private television station in the Congolese capital of Kinshasa were part of an attempted coup, the British ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo said on Sunday.

"There appears to have been a coup attempt. Rocket-propelled grenades were fired from the direction of the Palais de la Nation (Presidential Palace) in the direction of the president's house and fire returned," Ambassador Jim Atkinson told reporters.
