'Pools of blood' threat
THREATS by a new Islamic terror group to turn Australia into "pools of blood" through car bomb attacks unless we withdraw our troops from Iraq are being treated seriously by the Federal Government.

The Tawhid Islamic Group, which claims to be al-Qaeda's European branch, has made the threats in a statement posted on the internet on the weekend.

ASIO was last might investigating the credibility of the group which was unknown until last Wednesday when it made similar threats against Bulgaria and Poland.

Italy was also given a similar threat in the internet warning.

Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said yesterday the Government would not bow to the terrorists' demands.

And he blamed decisions by the Philippines and Spanish governments to withdraw their troops from Iraq after terrorist threats for the danger now faced by Australia.

Guess I shouldn't hold my breath waiting for the bit where that tosser Downer explains with pride how the invasion of Iraq made the world such a safer place to be just like he promised us...

1. And so on . . .
The question is, why are any of the so-called "Coalition of the Willing" still there, knowing that George Bush led them there on a lie?

The threat has to be taken seriously. After all, Bush hasn't exactly "smoked 'em out" and now there are so many new recruits . . .

I pray nothing comes of this. But who could blame your country if they pull out?

2. do you think he would be so cocky
if it were one of his children being held hostage? These terraists must shake in their boots after being chided by downer.

3. If he felt so strongly about it...
he should have offered to trade places with the Filipino hostage and sit there refusing to withdraw Filipino troops (very small number of troops who were leaving very soon anyway). By offering himself up like that he would have been doing both us and the Phillipines a favour ;)
