During the Vietnam War, the politicans told us that the war was necessary to prevent all of Southeast Asia from going communist.
This theory was called the Domino theory.
Vietnam did fall but all of Southeast Asia did not go communist. So the politicians were wrong.
Now the politicians tell us that the best path to a stable Middle East is to have a democratic Iraq.
Once Iraq becomes democratic then it will create a domino effect into the Middle East.
How can anyone believe such rubbish?

bush's Domino Theory. Little georgie took on Iraq, a weaker nation in the middle east, to open the road to over through other countries in the middle east. US's support for Israel is always seen as the 'religious' duty. The fact is that Israel is the stepping stone into defeating Muslim countries in the middle east. It has nothing to do with religion, birth place of Christ, non of that crap. It all has to do with OIL. And Oil brings Power. Oil industries support Israel financially 300%, and they also support bush 300%.
The problems is that half the Muslims see bush's war in Iraq as a religious war. Georgie is to blame. The other half of Muslims see it as a war to steal their oil. Again, bush is to blame. Bush got greedy.
If bush had really wanted democracy for the Iraqi people, he would have worked with the people of Iraq, who were already beat down by Saddam and when the sanctions against Iraq were working, the people of Iraq would have revolted and over thrown Saddam. Nope. General Georgie knew better. He committed our country to a war with no end. Georgie is fighting the war against the people he claims, he wanted them to have freedom. The Iraqis now want freedom from bush. Georgie claims, they hate us for our freedom. He gives Iraqis Freedom and they still hate the US. What do they really hate us for? Georgie, Iraqis hate us because you want to take their oil and because you want your form of kkkristianity to wipe out their Muslim religion.

This isn't about "Democracy", it's about "Killin A-rabs!"
Shrubbie fancies himself to be a crusader against "evil", and Iraq was as good a place to start as any. This wasn't about democracy, liberty, or any other piece of rhetorical crap. It was about "He tried to kill my daddy" and some twisted notion of what God wants him to do.
War on Terror my ass. This is another crusade, and the Constitution and International Law be damned.

I am reading In Retrospect by Robert McNamara, and it is scary the similarities of the war in Iraq and Bush's policy in the country. We are having many similar problems that we had in Vietnam and have a policy which is almost identical. With these similarities one has to wonder if the out come will be the same. If it is, then we may very well have a domino effect, but not the one bush wants. But if we succeed I do not see other countries embracing democracy because of its "western" values.
