SRINAGAR, Aug 18: Nearly 84 persons have disappeared in the nine months rule of People's Democratic Party (PDP) led coalition government. Compared to National Conference rule, the human rights violations have shown four fold increase in the PDP-led coalition government.
This was stated by Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) during a media conference here. On this occasion the parents of disappeared persons lit up the candles and staged a silent dharna to protest against the enforced disappearance. Talking to media persons, APDP patron Parvez Imroz said the documentation of 84 enforced disappearances cases is just a tip of the ice-berg. "There might be more disappearances cases which have gone unreported. Some people living in far flung areas do not report the disappearances because of ignorance and other pressures. Some people report the disappearances after a long time because they are individually trying to trace their wards", he said.
