Bought a new Remington 870 home defense model today. Actually it's not new, but new to me and looks to be in good condition, someone traded it in at work and I snatched it up. I sold all my other mossbergs and decided to try a remington out this time. I've shot them before and like them, and they seem to fit slightly better than my mossys. Next I think I'm gonna get a JLD PTR-91, then an AK, although I'm not sure if I should slum it and buy a romanian WASR-10 or if I should spring for an Arsenal. After that, an MPA Mini MAC, and then it's AR recievers and all sorts of High cap mags. I don't care who gets into office, republican or democrat, I'm not gonna take any chances and want to snatch up as much as I can before any sort of ban. Anyhow, Just thought I'd share about my new toy.

13. Hmm. Let that happen and it'll rust. Or maybe that's happened already. |

The 870 goes and goes.
But if you're after an AK, you'd better be prepared to spend some big bucks if you want the original milled receiver. The market is flooded with AK's that have the cheap stamped receiver out of China. I'm not a fan of the AK, but maybe the tip will help you out.

Ak-47s one SAR-1, and one Russian. The russian had a milled reciever which is good, but really there's not really anything wrong with stamped for me. I know it's stronger, but I'm never gonna wear it out anyway. The reason I like the Arsenal is because it's so put together really well, and shoots great, not necisarily for the reciever. I just don't now if it's worth the the money it commands for an AK.

4. I had a Police Magnum for a bit - used them on duty - a great gun! Good value. |
|
Theses days I like the Benelli M1S90.
The WASR-10 isn't bad for the money either - they shoot fine, and clean up pretty good. Plenty of accoutrements/mags available even here in NY.
Always choose a semi if you can - pumps will most likely not be subject to a ban any time soon.
Enjoy!

Everything from here on out is gonna be something Semi. I was gonna save up for an Ingram MAC-10 and a Gemtech, but I think I'm gonna see what happens with DC v. Heller before I lay that much cash out for a Machine gun, and just buy other things that may get banned if The case goes the wrong way for some reason. I think NFA guns should be safe from any ban.

11. Get an AK, and a case of ammo... |
|
the prices have gone up on ammo, but for 1k rounds they are still the cheapest center fire ammo.
As for paying more for the milled, I personally didnt. IMO they all go bang in the same manner.

12. The milled ones don't seem to be any more accurate. |
|
The most accurate AK out there is an Arsenal, followed by a Saiga and Armory USA.

14. I have two 870s; both very good guns... |
|
These models, if very old, are not suitable for steel shot (so I have been told by smiths). Did it come with screw-in chokes? This should indicate its ability to shoot steel shot. Otherwise, they are very easy to disassemble and clean. My Dad gave me a Wingmaster in 1961; still a beautiful gun which I use every season.
Congrats! You'll have fun with it.
