Armed man stops school shooting.

It's in another country, but I don't think it matters much.

JERUSALEM — A gunman entered the library of a rabbinical seminary and opened fire on a crowded nighttime study session Thursday, killing eight people and wounding nine before he was slain, police and rescue workers said. It was the first major militant attack in Jerusalem in more than four years.

David Simchon, head of the seminary, said the students had been preparing a celebration for the new month on the Jewish calendar, which includes the holiday of Purim. "We were planning to have a Purim party here tonight and instead and instead we had a massacre," he told Channel 2 TV.

Yehuda Meshi Zahav, head of the Zaka rescue service, entered the library after the attack. "The whole building looked like a slaughterhouse. The floor was covered in blood. The students were in class at the time of the attack," he said. "The floors are littered with holy books covered in blood."

Witnesses described a terrifying scene during the shooting, with students jumping out windows to escape.

One of the students, Yitzhak Dadon, said he shot the attacker twice in the head. "I laid on the roof of the study hall, cocked my gun and waited for him. He came out of the library spraying automatic fire," he said.

1. You might want to edit your post a bit...
Rules permit only the posting of four paragraphs from copyrighted sources. :hi:

4. You realize ALMOST every man and woman in Israel at the age of 18
goest to the army and learns to use a gun and is issued one

Trust me, that is one of the most armed countries in the world, as everybody has their guns at home while in the reserve. This does not help the case for everybody to have weapons or CWP, given the violence that rocks the place on a daily basis

7. Yeah, but it's palistinian viloence.
The problem isn't their guns. The story was meant to show that 1 person with a gun can stop an attack, or at least cut one short.

8. Palestinians throw rocks. Its all they're permitted by the Israeli gov't
On the other hand, fanatical Israeli settlers seem to shoot Palestinians with great regularity.

10. Thanks for the political statement ... totally irrelevant and wrong though.
Now read the article again, the guy went into the clasroom and shot a bunch of unarmed children with a full auto AK.

He did not throw rocks at them so obviously you are wrong about what they have to fight with I guess.

He was stopped by another guy with a rifle. Good argument for aimed fire versus spray and pray.

Do you have a problem with this Israeli shooting this particulat Palestinian?

15. From what I understand
from my parents who visited last year, they're far from concealed...people casually walk around with M16s (the real deal, select-fire) slung over their shoulders as casually as a handbag.

9. Good on him...
Unfortunately, I already agree that firearms can be used to help people in these sorts of situations. So I didn't really need any convincing.

14. Now you've stirred up the strident anti-gun group who want all law-abiding citizens disarmed. I look
forward to reading more of their drivel about evil guns.

16. Aren't ALL school shootings stopped by an armed person?

Sometimes it's a citizen, sometimes it's the police, sometimes it's the criminal committing suicide.

But it's always stopped with a gun.

Shooting sprees are not stopped with pepper spray, Tasers, or gun free zone signs.
