Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 02:09 AM by BallaFaseke
Say it ain't so!
To get elected in Vermont he had to oppose gun control, but to get the Pres nom now he has to support the assault weapons ban, well I'll be. :eyes:

.........."Dean said he wanted to protect hunters' rights to use semiautomatic hunting rifles in Vermont. But the question about the ban referred both to federal and state law.
Former Democratic state Sen. Elizabeth Ready of Vermont said Dean's position on guns was the same as the vast majority of Democrats in Vermont..............."

So Dean is just doing what he has to to get elected?
Go sue him!

Anyway it's in the Des Moines Register. Go to their website do a search. I guess you would find it. Or Google it.

Al Gore had to support gun rights when running in Tennessee. He too felt a need to pander to the small fringe groups that are "gun control advocates". It really helped him with his home state, West Virginia and Arkansas.
I believe in the right to keep and bear arms. I can't vote for a canidate that is for restricting my rights. I will stay home.

10. I am pointing how absurd it is that John Kerry is attacking Dean |
|
on a issue Dean needed to oppose to get elected in Vermont.
MA has an assault weapons ban, VT does not.

11. Any democratic canidate has to take the gun issue seriously |
|
Al Gore didn't and he lost the election. It is odd that the free state of Vermont has very few gun homocides while the State of Mass has "tough gun restrictions" and a higher per capita gun homocide rate isn't it? Go figure.
