Al Gore had to support gun rights when running in Tennessee. He too felt a need to pander to the small fringe groups that are "gun control advocates". It really helped him with his home state, West Virginia and Arkansas.

I believe in the right to keep and bear arms. I can't vote for a canidate that is for restricting my rights. I will stay home.

It is odd that the free state of Vermont has very few gun homocides while the State of Mass has "tough gun restrictions" and a higher per capita gun homocide rate isn't it? Go figure.
