interesting polling data on assault weapons
it seems recently support for the AWB has slipped to about 50%...that from a high of around 75% in the early 90's

1. The AR15 is the most popular centerfire rifle
platform in the US so it's not surprising that the support for a new AWB has slipped.

2. The AR...
will be even more popular in a few more years as Vets continue to come home from the wars. They'll buy what they are familiar with and have been thoroughly indoctrinated to trust.

3. "thoroughly indoctrinated to trust." ?
More like carried in combat and are comfortable with its reliability and record.

Of course if you are a California vet, the laws here just fuck you over

5. No, I meant indoctrinated.
They buy into the weapon system before they ever get to combat. By the time they leave basic training they will be thoroughly familiar and comfortable with the weapon. Many will never use their rifle in combat but still are given the training.

6. IMO most of the 25% shift may be attributed to respondents now knowing that AWB is an intentional
misrepresentation of a class of firearms by anti-RKBA forces so they can push bills to ban semiautomatic firearms.

The number of LTTE, editorials, news accounts, etc. that relentlessly tell the truth to fight the lies told by the anti-RKBA group is working.

If so, then the AWB-Believers will eventually be left alone and join the Bush-Believers in numbers, perhaps 10-15%.

The two groups do have one thing in common, they would prohibit pre-existing or natural, inherent, inalienable/unalienable rights that do not depend upon our Constitution for legitimacy and which government has a duty under our Constitution to protect and defend.

Some anti-RKBA types expected to gain public support after the recent spate of tragic mass murders in which firearms were used however it appears that instead the anti-RKBA group lost support.

A lesson reinforced after Heller is our fight for freedom and inalienable rights will never end because there is always some person(s) plotting to prohibit every right.
