The sun is shining, and it's beginning to warm up from the nights desert chill. It is now the beginning of "the mouth watering hours", the time in which the smell of Thanksgiving dinner starts to saturate the house, and our noses. We ended up getting a 23.75 pound turkey, at 44 cents a pound, not great, but not bad either, pricewise. We also got 20 pounds of potato's and a raspberry pie for desert. We love potato's of the mashed variety. They usually leave little room for desert LOL.:9
Our pomeranian is scurrying about, trying to understand what all the hubbub's about. They are so SO animated, haveing to be in the middle of everything, and, its his first Thanksgiving with us. The other animals we share our humble abode with, are all looking around wondering whats going on. Our youngest daughter is watching the parade with mom. Our oldest daughter is still sleeping, she had drama class activities until late last night. But that wont last, that turkey smell doesn't let one sleep long. I miss my mom and dad, and sister and brother in law, niece and nephew, and all my immediate family, who are sooo far away now. Its hard, living a whole life within just a few miles of all ones family, to be so far away from them now. But, its ok, I know they're "here" with us, just as we are "there" with them. Present in spirit, if not in body. Days like this.......Today reminds me of whats really important.
The simple things in life, family, afar or near, and dear. Simple things like a cat cuddling up on your lap, or the "grin"(you dog owners know what I'm talking about) on a little dogs face. Simple things like the smell of hearty food. The holiday mood. The love of your life savoring the day with you.:loveya: Freetime to enjoy it all. Waiting for family to call. Things that all the money in the world couldn't buy. Things that we might too often take for granted. The simple things. Simple, yet they are the greatest times a person can ever experience. At least, to me.
I'd love to hear about anyone elses thanksgiving.
I know J/PS isn't the place for it, but it just seems the right thing to do today.
