Poll question: Choose one.
The one you don't choose, dies forever.

11. The Second Amendment is concise...
and while what it says may still be debated long after it was written, it's a lot easier to understand then some 1000 page bill which contains loopholes for the heathcare insurance industry to screw us with.

The scary thing to me is that the bill will be written by lobbyists and voted on in a hurry by lawmakers, many of whom are bought and paid for by the insurance industry.

To top that off, whatever bill passes and is signed into law will not take effect for four years. You can bet the insurance companies who are parasites, will feast off our blood with great joy until then. Expect rate increases and denial of services to skyrocket. The CEO's and the execs of the heathcare insurance companies will profit from the pain suffering and the death of their plan participants with joy.

13. Concise? Have you read it?
It may be short, but it is as convoluted as three lines can be. Even so, Most people l
just skip the first half and just read the part that sounds like
gun rights.

25. Yes, he said concise, and it certainly is, Unless one is ignorant of what the bill of rights is...
Edited on Wed Oct-14-09 09:03 PM by beevul
The bill of rights is a laundry list of declaratory and restrictive clauses, aimed at ensuring that government does not misconstrue or abuse its power. What? Don't believe me, or think maybe thats just an opinion or a wrong interpretation? Its an nra talking point, right?

Here ya go, from the document itself:

The First 10 Amendments to the Constitution as Ratified by the States December 15, 1791

Preamble

Congress OF THE United States begun and held at the City of New York, on Wednesday the Fourth of March, one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine.

THE Conventions of a number of the States having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added : And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best insure the beneficent ends of its institution

http://billofrights.org /

Now, lets look at the second amendment (the one that was actually ratified):

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Heres the declaratory clause:

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state,..."

And heres the restrictive clause:

"...the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

If you read it in the context it was INTENDED to be read in - that being the context which the preamble to the bill of rights itself plainly lays out - its as concise as it could possibly need to be.

18. As if it's either-or.
Your poll is particularly ironic in light of the fact that in the early '90s, the Third Wayers chose gun control over health care reform, and in so doing lost both.

21. I clicked...
Voted for the 2nd amendment. Because I kinda want to help him gather his evidence that the gungeoneers are a bunch of evil republicans. If we get the 2nd over the hump, he can point to this poll and jump up and down and scream "SEE THEY HATE SICK PEOPLE AND WANT THEM TO DIE TO SAVE THEIR PRECIOUS GUNZS!ZZSS!" while having his metaphorical dick out at a formal-wear party and looking like a maroon.

This poll being referred to forever, would be the FUNtastically awesome!!

I support both of these measures. This is, fortunately, a false dichotomy. There is no reason to choose one over the other.
