Paul Anthony Palmer, 35, of Sheraden, a 10-year veteran of the force currently on workers' compensation, was arraigned last night on charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault.

The shooting happened around 1 p.m. Wednesday. Oliver Sherwood, 33, of Wilkinsburg was hauling a load of construction debris from Beltzhoover to Findlay along the Parkway West near the on-ramp from Interstate 79.
Sherwood shifted to the left lane to allow merging traffic onto the Parkway. Shortly thereafter, he was confronted by the driver of a green Subaru wagon, who pulled in front of him and came to almost a full stop.
Sherwood said he slammed on his brakes. The Subaru sped into the right lane and waved for Sherwood to pass. It was then that Sherwood said he heard seven gunshots, which hit the front passenger-side tire and rim of his 18-wheel dump truck. The driver of the Subaru sped off and exited at Campbell's Run Road.
