Any reloaders here?
Just waiting for my Dillon XL650 to arrive so I can start rolling my own in .45 ACP and 9 MM. I chew up so much at the range shooting 'league' and then again in practice that reloading is the best solution $$$-wise. Of course, you can also alter the loads to minimize recoil etc which helps kill those nasty targets.

3. I used to, quite a few years ago.
Gave it up due to lack of time.

4. One word of advice
Do not try to reload steel shot on a hard wood floor. Almost inevitably, you are going to loose a few shot pellets, which you will find with the soles of your shoes, embedding the shot forever into your beautiful floors.

6. I recall having loaded a 158 grain SWC in a .357 case
containing no powder. The primer had just enough oomph to push the bullet into the throat of my Python revolver, with the tip of the bullet sticking into the barrel and jamming the gun up so the cylinder wouldn't rotate or open. I ended up VEREEEE CAREFULLLLLY driving the bullet back into the case with a wooden dowel down the muzzle. There were no witnesses to this fiasco, which is good 'cause I would have had to kill them for what they saw, and I was armed.

5. Yes, and have a XL650
It's a wonderful machine, and will outlast you. I initially got mine to load .45 ACP. Then started loading 9mm as well. Then 5.56, then 10mm, then...well you get the picture.

Only problem with that loader is that every time you buy a gun in a different caliber you will start to figure in setup costs for that caliber as well. Add about $200 to the proce tag of the gun for a caliber conversion kit for the 650, brass, powder and bullets.

I never, ever saved money by reloading. I spent the same amount (or more) but I got a lot more rounds downrange for the same $$$. Just remember to be safe about loading and double, double check everything!!!

30K + rounds reloaded and only 3 problems ever, all 3 of them being primers inserted backwards. They make a pitiful "piff" sound that will have your buds rolling on the ground laughing.

Welcome to the dark side :P

What a hoot! The first time my wife saw it, she thought it was a "blue press" catalog, what with the cutie in the neglige on the cover.

8. Another evil habit!
When I got my C&R license I didn't know how $$$ things were going to get, including reloading for some of my Milsurps.

Currently reloading on a Lee turret press with a factory crimp in a separate press for:

.45 Colt
.45 ACP
.303 British
30.06 Springfield
.223/5.56
7.63 x 54R

9. 7.63x54R?
is that a typo? If you're speaking of the 7.62x54R, shop around. I've found you can find original ammo for less than the cost of components.

it's kind of like 7.92 mauser....you can get it all over the place for $.06/rd, or if you shop well and buy in bulk, $.03/rd. Next month, I'm filling my basement with it.
