Is CNN Report on "Legal Guns that Go Bad" Misleading?
http://www.opposingviews.com/i/is-cnn-report-on-legal-guns-that-go-bad-misleading

But NewsBusters, which describes itself as "the leader in documenting, exposing and neutralizing liberal media bias" says the entire report is seriously flawed. That's because these "straw purchases" are themselves illegal. So the supposed "legal gun that goes bad" was never legal at all. And CNN, NewsBusters says, never revealed this fact.

The CNN correspondent never disclosed during the segment that such straw purchases are felony offenses under the Gun Control Act of 1968. Thus, the graphic on-screen during Lavandera's report, "How Legal Guns Go Bad: States with weaker gun laws attract traffickers," gave a misleading impression, as these "iron pipeline" guns are not legally purchased in the first place.

1. It is a legitimate observation, though, that everything flows from the same source.
If they are available, they will be obtained.

That's why turning off the spigot is key.

2. How do you really turn it off?
The same CNC mill that will turn out a Toyota brake caliper can turn out an M16 receiver. There are hobbyists who using simple lathes and manual mills build running quarter scale aircraft engines, steam locomotives, V-8 care engines in their basement or garage. You may have the mechanical aptitude of a turnip, but that doesn't mean everyone does.

How do you propose to un-invent guns?

4. "Turn off the Spigot" - Impossible.
I'm sure agencies like the DEA and ATF would love to hear effective strategies involved in "turning the spigot off.
Not only can drugs and guns be smuggled into the country... they can be made.

Lame meme. Find a new one that works.
