2. The question has no bearing on the story |
|
The story is about a road-rage shooting on Veteran's Bridge in Nashua by some jackass with anger management issues.

Perfect opportunity to destroy the gun and permanently bar him from gun ownership.
Perfect opportunity to close the gun store where he bought it.
Perfect opportunity to close down the importer.
Follow the chain and shut everything down along the way.

The gun is merely evidence in a crime and once its fulfilled its role it should be returned to its owner (if the owner broke no law).
The step-father, as far as we know, broke no laws and yet you wish to punish him with legal sanctions for some imagined wrong doing.
The gun store, as far as know, broke no laws in selling it to the step father and you wish to deprive the owner of making a living for some imagined wrong doing.
The gun itself is American made and yet you wish to punish some "importer" for something imaginary.
You are the strangest liberal/progressive I have ever seen on DU. Do you have no understanding of liberty? Do you have no sense of decency? The punishment and oppressive of innocent individuals in the pursuit of some principle is not a good way to go.

8. I didn't say prison for them. Goodness sake. Only the shooter faces that. |
|
But what about making a usable length of rope available to him in his cell?

9. Prison is not the only way take away freedoms. |
|
If the law or governmental regulations are used to deprive someone of their 2nd Amendment rights or livelihoods when they broke no law because of the actions of someone else, then you are abandoning civil rights.
I get it -- you want to reduce gun violence. I do too. But I will fight your methods and your message if you try to deprive the law abiding of their rights.

10. Actually he wants to do that as a stimulus package since those who have their weapons |
|
illegally seized and destroyed would hire lawyers, get compensated, and then buy new ones.
That is what happened when it was LAPD policy not to return any confiscated weapon for any reason

I won't bother paying attention to your ridiculous ideas in the future. Try North Korea, they are what you are looking for.

And mostly I had respect for the fact that he will stand is ground here.
But now I see that he would actually enslave not just himself but all the rest of us too, if he could. He really does believe in some kooky totalitarian belief system. I have little patience for crazies.

15. Do you intend to volunteer to enforce such edicts yourself? |
|
Or are you going to hire surrogate minions (presumably with guns) to do the deed for you?
Either way, I must warn you, that I would resist with deadly force. Just so you may make an informed decision.
