Armed homeowner stops violent home invader
A San Bernardino County, California man reportedly used his gun to stop a woman who was using a brick to break in to his home.

Police say that the home invading woman used a brick to break out a window at the man's home, prompting him to call the police. The homeowner also reportedly warned the home invader that he had a gun. Undeterred, the home invader reportedly stuck her head through the window, causing the homeowner to fear for his safety and the safety of his family, police say. The homeowner reportedly fired one shot in self defense, striking the home invader and ending the attack. The suspect, reportedly identified as 33 year old Jennifer London, was treated at a local hospital for a gunshot wound and then held on $125,000 bail, according to police.

1. Damn stupid invader! If it were my home, I'd have done the same thing!
I'd show the gun first, and if the invader didn't leave, I'd shoot too!

2. You and me both
Anyone coming into my house via a window, at any time of the day, I'm assuming isn't there to ask me to partner up in a game of spades.

3. Yes, big tough guy, shoots a poor helpless, defenseless woman.
Probably found her on the sidewalk, walking in front of his yard and suddenly just felt like shooting someone. Then claimed that she was trying to break in. Big tough guy, probably gets off on shooting women.

:sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

Just trying to beat the punch...

4. Firearms are just tools.
However, I suspect that this is a case where the best "tool" for the situation would have been a better funded mental health system.

5. Easy to say now, but probably
not the best solution at 3am when your window is being broken in.

16. I agree.
My assumption is that the woman is mentally ill and was not receiving the services that she needed. If that is the case, then the homeowner was left with the only "tool" that was available to him. I wasn't there, so I'm not going to second guess his actions. Hell, I don't "know" what I'd do at 3:00 AM , and I own firearms.
My point was that there should have been some intervention before this woman attempted to break in the house, and as a society, we should use other "tools" to resolve mental health issues earlier rather than wait until it becomes a tragic situation for all involved.

Who may be intent on taking your life.

Exactly what would you have done had this happened to you?

8. Ummm, if you've been paying attention here for a while....
that was sarcasm, playing off of a poster here who consistantly claims that firearms used to stop or resist illegal attacks with firearms is not a legitimate "excuse" for private firearms ownership.

Here, have another cup of coffee...:donut:

9. I would have called some cleaning people and then the cops.
I just painted my living room last year. I'll be damnned if some bitches guts stain it.
The carpet is burgundy so it stands a good chance of cleaning up OK.

Obviously, I have zero need for a shot up corpse. hopefully the cops get in & out so the cleaners can do their thing.

11. Careful there.
A lot of folks here will completely miss any undertones of sarcasm, irony and generally edgy humour.

12. LOL... ok.
Honestly though... I'd use my ccw gun, call the cops, and then call a lawyer.

Have a lawer familiar with self defense & firearms in your rolodex.
Call them next - before you make any initial statements to police if at all possible.

If the police are questioning you tell them the immediate course of events leading to the shooting AT MOST.
"She/He assaulted me. I warner her/him. Fearing for my/others' lives, I this firearm in self defense."
Other than, shut your mouth. Don't answer any other questions. Don't be a dick though.
Request that you'd like to speak to an attourney before making any further statements to their inquiries.
The fifth ammendment... not just for bad-comedy & criminals.

15. "that stuff will kill you"
It'll have to take a number and get in line.

After almost 20 years of... err... "flexible" shifts of military aviation maintenance, my at-rest hand position is the semi-curl for holding a mug or energy-drink can.

"I can quit any time I want..."

But seriously, it's not that bad, I just like a cup or two of home-made mocha in the "A.M.", what-ever time of day that might actually be.

19. Congrats!
And thank you for your service!

One of my uncles is a semi-retired fireman (still does duty with the local village volunteer dept.) and I'm looking at it as a possible post-military career... if I can pass the physical tests. I ain't as young as I once was... And keeping out in front of the kids gets harder every year.

For the caffeine withdrawal, I suggest cold-turkey for about a week, with lots of exercise. That seems to help establish a regular sleep pattern. At which time something else will come along to kick your peaceful schedule in the teeth... Oh well.

Stay safe out there!

22. Greatly appreciated
and THANK YOU for your service to this great nation, Stay safe out there. When I took the written and physical exam for the LVFR it wasn't to bad but nowadays I don't know if I could pass every thing these young whippersnappers have to go through. After I retire, I might just do some volunteer work for our local FD. It is a Paid Union dept. with Volunteers backing them up when it gets really busy. I plan to keep my Paramedics License active so I'll definitly do some work here.
