Man Killed and Girl Hurt in Shooting Outside a Grocery Store

A 24-year-old man was killed and a 10-year-old girl was wounded in the arm in a shooting outside a grocery store in Brooklyn on Monday night, the authorities said.

The police said they received a call about 7:40 p.m. of a girl shot outside Liriano Grocery, at 59 Stuyvesant Avenue, near Pulaski Street, in Bedford-Stuyvesant. She was taken to Kings County Hospital Center with an arm wound and was in stable condition.

The second victim walked into Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center with numerous gunshot wounds, the police said. He was pronounced dead at 8:05 p.m.

The police did not identify either victim and had not made any arrests or identified a suspect late Monday.

Most (YMMV, no pun intended) of the people I know of who dislike automobiles tend to be thoughtful folk with at least
some grasp of statistics- though I disagree with their conclusions. Few are Cotton Mather or Fred Phelps wannabees eager to excoriate the 'sinners' for the acts of others.

The incident occurred in Brooklyn, i.e. New York City; the firearm used was very probably illegally possessed, and almost certainly illegally carried. So what does this prove, other than the failure of gun control laws to prevent this kind of incident?

After reading a dozen or so of these very informative posts by onehandle Ive come to realize they firmly believe in victimization. Violent people should be given free reign to do as they please, and even fighting back in your own defense with your hands and feet is likely to only get you beaten more severely or make you even more dead than you otherwise would be.
