Three-year-old girl dies after accidentally shooting herself
A Wilson County child has died after accidentally shooting herself Sunday evening.

Three-year-old Cheyenne Alexis McKeehan shot herself in the abdomen with the family’s handgun at their home in the rural Norene community, Wilson County Sheriff Terry Ashe said.

Ashe said the girl’s stepfather had taken out his gun to try to frighten off dogs that had been hanging around the home.

The child had been playing a Nintendo Wii video game, Ashe said. The game’s controller was shaped like a gun that looked very similar to the real handgun, which her stepfather had put on a table in the living room. Ashe said the girl pulled the gun off the table and it went off.

Gosh, I hope those dogs learned their lesson.

:wtf: So now guns are white, shaped liek a tv remote, and have a a soft rubber protector around them?

Child endangerment and negligent homicide.

7. There are aftermarket ones that look like guns these days
Such as the CTA Sureshot rifle http://www.amazon.com/Wii-SureShot-Rifle-Nintendo/dp/B001LY0QJ4/ref=sr_1_38?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1268217524&sr=1-38
the CTA Multifunction gun http://www.amazon.com/CTA-Digital-WI-MFG-Wii-Multifunction/dp/B0011FK4MW/ref=sr_1_51?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1268217542&sr=1-51
and the Nyko Perfect Shot http://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Shot-Wii-Nintendo/dp/B000X2RKOO/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1268217441&sr=1-14

They're for first-person shooters and Cabela's hunting games. Mind you, they are mostly still white.

Still, when you have toy guns around the house, it becomes even more imperative not to leave the real thing lying around unsecured. A simple kydex holster could have gone a long way to preventing an occurrence like this.

10. Gosh I hope that father learned his lesson
Maybe with the next child he will know better than to leave a gun out. Thats called irresponible gun ownership and poor parenthood. Your blaming a gun for killing the child? I am blaming the father, but thats just me
