Three teens shot in Schaumburg
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - Schaumburg Police say three teens were shot Wednesday night while walking across a street in the 900 block of Bode Road around 8:30 p. m.

They were crossing the street when a gold colored extended cab pickup truck fired shots at them.

The victims range in age of 14 to 16 years old.

Police say two males were transported in critical condition to an area hospital. A female suffered a graze wound.

1. I drive by that stretch of Bode Road every day.
Scary. Those apartments right there are known as a pretty high crime area, across the street from a middle school as well.

9. When you mock-- you mock those kids with the bullet wounds.
They're hurting. So unjust.

5. I'll go out on a limb here
And speculate this was gang related and further speculate the shooting was done with illegal weapons in the hands of people who couldn't pass an NICS check (which is against the law), but we all know bad guys obey the law.

7. You're right
According the the article a truck fired the shots. The inhabitants were no doubt shocked by being innocent passengers in a truck bent on death and destruction.

13. Part of root cause "accident" "suv run over kid" "gun goes off"
all portray events where someone made choices and there were consequences. Bad driving, inattention, and mishandling weapons is negligence. You do in, you own it. No one wants to own their shit anymore.

10. Gangs move to the suburbs
We've had a number of cases in the last two years or so of gang activity in otherwise quiet suburban areas around Chicago.

They've ranged from drive by's like this to outright home invasion/assassinations of rival gang member's families like we had out in rural Frankfort Township last month. The early news on this one is that the kids were passing or leaving a nearby 7-11 that is a "hang out" for a transplanted Chicago gang and got caught in the cross fire.

I'm guessing this was not done by anyone with a FOID card, or probably of legal age, or by any of the more than 10,000 Illinois State Rifle Association members that marched in Springfield yesterday protesting Daley's latest round of gun bills - none of which would have had any impact on gang guns.

But the solution to people shooting up the citizens on the street for some tiny brained folks is to immediately demand that we disarm the law abiding - and somehow magically that will help. Of course it never does, but at least they feel warm and fuzzy that they "did something about violence".

15. Wow! more gang related violence. How is it you failed to show this quote?
"They say one of the three children shot, a 16-year-old boy, may have had ties to a gang."

Damn, the only Brady descriptions the report failed to use was calling the "gang" a "club".

What we really need to be doing is trying to find ways to stop GANGS.
