Burglar shot by man inside home
Second time home has been broken into since homeowners moved in
Third home on the block broken into so far this year
(Memphis 4/26/10) A Raleigh man grabbed his gun and shot one of three teenage intruders who tried to break into his home Monday morning.
He managed to scare off the other two would-be burglars but his family says their house is not new to crime. The family who lives there seems to think their home is a target and they bought a gun to protect it. The break-in-turned-shooting happened in the 38-hundred block of Brandy Avenue where neighbors say it's the third break-in on the block in as many months.
Police say the teenage boys broke in through a back window of the home when the man inside grabbed a gun and fired. The bullet hit one suspect, Nicole Clark's 18 year-old nephew.
"It's just sad. That's my nephew and we don't know what brought this on or what happened. We don't know anything," says Clark who showed up to the scene and said her nephew was involved in the break-in

That will likely cool the crime wave on that block.
http://www.buffalonews.com/2010/05/04/1039354/home-invader-fatally-shot-was.htmlThe intruder shot to death when he entered the wrong Amherst home through an unlocked door early March 28 had a blood-alcohol level more than double the legal limit for driving, sources close to the case have told The Buffalo News.
David W. Park, 31, an award-winning teacher from Albany, was shot after he walked into the wrong home on Millbrook Court after leaving a party at a house next door, police said.

Authorities believe Park entered the home at about 1 a.m. through a rear door that had mistakenly been left unlocked by the D'Amicos. Authorities said Park would have had to walk up onto a raised deck to get to the door.
D'Amico also told police that his dog was barking, that his wife had called 911 to report the intruder and that he had verbally warned Park several times to leave the house or he would shoot.
According to D'Amico's attorney, Thomas H. Burton, the couple had never met or seen Park before he entered their home that night.
"
and his wife have been completely cooperative in the investigation. They have answered all the questions put to them by police and my assistants," Sedita said. "We have no indication that they were trying to hide or shade anything in what they told us."

"As we've said before, this is a tragedy," Burton said Monday. "But the law looks at cases like this from the perspective of the person who pulls the trigger. From perspective, he and his wife had retreated into their bedroom, they had called the police, and this individual kept coming. From perspective, there was no other option other than using his weapon to protect himself and his wife."
That sucks. Lock those doors people. Make it hard to get in so that mistakes like this don't happen.

Detroit -- A 20-year-old gunman went into a southwest-side antiques shop Thursday intending to rob the place, only to be allegedly shot and killed by the owner, a man more than three times his age, police said.
The alleged robber entered the Antiques Bought and Sold on Michigan Avenue near Parkinson late Thursday afternoon brandishing a pistol -- but the store owner, 63, allegedly pulled out his own gun and fired several shots, killing the would-be thief, Detroit Police 2nd Deputy Chief John Roach said.
"The perpetrator managed to stumble out to the street," Roach said, adding that
the store owner had a valid concealed weapons permit. He got a really early retirement from that career.

Hazelwood police say a man with a conceal carry permit appeared to be justified to fatally shoot an armed robber earlier this week.Christopher Holland, 20, died grasping a .38-caliber revolver.
Police are testing Holland's gun to see if he was the robber who fired shots during another nearby street robbery the week before. The robber in that holdup struggled with the victim before firing several shots and running away. The shots didn't strike anyone.
Another very short criminal career.

One of three suspects of a home invasion robbery was shot in the Bayview this morning in the midst of the crime.
Three men allegedly assaulted a man in his home on the 1300 block of Thomas Avenue around 4 a.m., and a fifth person shot one of the suspects, according to police.
The wounded suspect is expected to survive, and all three were taken into custody, according to police.
Hey, that in San Francisco. What is he doing with a gun there? Accoring to the city, nobody needs them.
http://www.wmbfnews.com/Global/story.asp?S=12391185CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police say a Conway homeowner who shot and killed a man who threatened him and his wife at gunpoint is not facing charges at this time.
Sgt. Robert Kegler, spokesman for the Horry County Police Department, says officers were dispatched to a home at 3140 Wayside Dr. in Conway in reference to a home invasion and shooting. Upon arrival, investigators learned the homeowner shot and killed one of three suspects who broke into his home, demanding money and valuables.
Tony Hendrick of the Horry County Coroner's Office identified the man who was killed as Anthony Andre Browne Jr., 23, of Conway.
James Gagum says at least four shots were fired during the incident, one of which went through his home.
"It was him instead of me or me instead of him," Gagum said, noting Browne pointed a gun at him and his wife.
All three intruders fled the scene, but officials found Browne's body in a wooded area next to the location of the home invasion.
"He could not have ran that far because I knew I shot him with a .357 three times, square in the mid-section," Gagum recalled hours after the man's death.

Three hits, center mass from a .357.
One notices that several of the shooters had CCW permits. Without the shall-issue laws, some of those people would have been helpless victims, possibly even dead victims.
